Hello, I have a Mustang Mach 1 with a C and an FMX automatic transmission, a few weeks ago when I put my car into reverse and kind of stepped on it, the car shuddered and shook real bad, and didn’t go anywhere. And most recently shifting from 1st to 2nd is slipping real badly. Ultimtely it will depend on what you intend to do with the car. A C-4 is a good reliable trans and will fit behind a W no problem. An AOD is another good option if you want taller gears and manners for highway cruising A T 4 spd or T-5 5 speed is good too Its up to you man They can generally be had used, locally. Or re-manned or hopped up. The W and C use the small block bellhousing bolt pattern. The M and use the big block bolt pattern. The C4 auto trans, which has a separate bell, can be used, but you'll probably have to go with an aftermarket bell for the big block pattern. The C4 has two different designs. One is a case fill, as used on Mustangs.
